Kirsty's Feeding Story

Kirsty's Feeding Story ✨️

I'm a little late posting this month, but this is a really lovely, positive outcome breastfeeding journey share from @kirstyannbrown94

Thank you so much for sharing your journey, Kirsty, and congratulations on your amazing achievement 🤍

"I had my baby boy in August of 2022, we had a beautiful birth at home. I knew my son had a tongue tie the minute he cried after being born. After a few days I started to dread the feeds, the pain was indescribable and when a midwife sympathised with me I broke down. I didn’t want this to be our breastfeeding journey, I wanted to enjoy it. I felt so guilty. Thankfully, the midwife knew how important it was to me to continue to breastfeed and helped me to do just that whilst we waited for the tongue tie snip which made such a difference. My son then developed silent reflux and also had a short hospital stay at 6 weeks old due to an infection. But luckily enough I continued to push through and exclusively breastfeed through the tough times we had so early on.

My son is an IVF baby, and to be able to successfully breastfeed was such a desire. If I was able to breastfeed, at least it was the one thing my body could do naturally for my child.

14 months on and I am so proud to say I am still breastfeeding. The feeds are slowly dropping off and it’s a bittersweet time, but the moments I have shared with my baby boy because of breastfeeding have been pure joy 🤎"
