FAQs

I'm always happy to help and my inbox is always open so please contact me if you don't see the answer to your question below!

How long will my jewellery take?

I place a 6 week estimated completion date on each piece of jewellery from receipt of your milk. This is due to the size of my workshop and the amount of stages in the process and the time they each take. The minimum time you should expect your order could take is around 3 weeks. There is no way to speed the process up without compromising the quality of the piece. Please note that occasionally orders may take longer than 6 weeks to complete - I would always advise placing an order around 12 weeks out from any special date you wish to receive it by!

Do you ship internationally?

Currently I am only able to fulfil orders from the UK.

Can I use milk that's been frozen? Does it matter how long milk has been frozen?

Absolutely! Milk that's been frozen is perfect. The age of the milk isn't an issue, I've worked with milk that's been frozen for 7 years!

Will I receive updates on my jewellery?

I will inform you via email when your collection kit is posted, when it's received back and your milk preserved and when your jewellery is on it's way to you!

What happens if I want to order again? Do I need to send more milk?

If you wish to order again and don't want to send new milk, please contact me to check if I still have preserved milk left for you as this is often the case. A discount applies for ordering again using spare milk I already have preserved.

How much milk do you need?

The collection tube holds 5ml, and this is enough for most jewellery. Smaller quanitities can be worked with too! If you can't send 5ml message me to discuss, it doesn't mean you can't have jewellery made!

What's the process?

There are several stages! Firstly your milk is heated and preserved, then comes drying, followed by grinding and setting in resin. Finally, it's time to polish and package!

Can I change my order?

Yes, if you change your mind and wish to swap the product/s you've ordered you can do this up until the point that your milk is received and preserved. Any difference in cost will be invoiced/refunded.

I have multiple milks from different children that I would like to use, how can I incorporate these?

So there are a few options here! You can either combine milks into one single piece of jewellery (literally mix the milks in the collection tube). Or, if you are ordering separate pieces and want to use different milks, just drop me an email, use the contact form, or leave me an order note telling me how many collection tubes you require and any preferences as to which milks go into which pieces. I can also combine multiple pendants onto one chain if you wish (message to discuss) or use two separate milks to create a half/half stone. The Baby Feet Charm can be made with two or three milks (one in each foot and one in toes).

What if my jewellery gets damaged? Can you repair it?

If your jewellery unfortunately becomes damaged or a stone becomes loose/lost please do contact me. There are ways to repair a damaged stone, also stones can be re-made provided I have leftover preserved milk from your order (this is often the case but depends how much you sent/how much jewellery I made for you) and we can discuss arranging this. Please note any damage that is a result of not following aftercare instructions will be chargeable for repair.

Do you use any artificial colourings to achieve the effect?

No, never. Milk does tend to lighten a shade or two when it goes through the preservation and drying process, so most jewellery will end up being a shade of off-white. Please ensure you send milk that is a colour you are happy with, the more 'yellow' the milk the more cream-coloured the finished piece is likely to be.

Do you do custom pieces?

I am listening to feedback and will consider adding to the range where there's enough demand. There are also pieces I can do outside of my range, if you have a clear idea in mind contact me to discuss if its something I can make happen.

What happens if my milk is unusable?

In the unlikely event that your milk is lost/leaks/goes bad in the post I'm happy to send another collection kit for you. Alternatively, if you prefer, a refund can be given.

Can you add embelishments to the milk?

I work with pure breastmilk and don't add glitter/metal flakes/shimmer to the jewellery at all. If you wish to have some of your child's hair or umbilical cord included, please message me to discuss this.
