Support on a Breastfeeding Journey

Updated: Feb 23

Wherever you're at on your breastfeeding journey, it is brave to admit when it is hard and to ask for help.

We often think of support as being needed the most in the early days when we might be struggling with positioning and latch issues and battling things like cracked, sore nipples and cluster feeding.

But support can be needed just as much at the end of a breastfeeding journey and at many points along the way too.

Maybe your little one is going through a fussy period and you don't know if it's normal.

Maybe they're on a nursing strike.

Maybe they've started twiddling and you don't know how to stop them or their feeding manners are lacking.

Maybe you've decided to embark on a weaning journey and you don't know how to navigate it or where to start.

Things can feel a little bit intense and lonely sometimes and I'm here to tell you today that just because you might be the only person who can breastfeed your baby, it doesn't mean you have to do it alone.

Sometimes the support you need might just be a friendly face and a listening ear to vent. Other times it might be a visit to a breastfeeding support group, a chat with someone on the national breastfeeding helpline or getting some face to face professional help.

Just a reminder today that if you're finding things hard, you're not alone and the help and support is out there.
