Katherine’s Feeding Story

"I was very lucky with my breastfeeding story and our little Gemma took to breastfeeding within the first hour of being born, looking for milky milk as soon as we had our first skin to skin.

Even though very lucky, 6 weeks later our little Gem was diagnosed with epilepsy, with alot more stress, hospital stays and tests our Gem was diagnosed with WWOX WOREE, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder.

One of the issues with this condition can be swallowing development, so being able to breastfeed our little one with boobie milk has been a gift!

Gemma's seizures can triggered by her wind so she has exclusively been boobie feed with no bottles to try and reduce as much wind as possible.

It can be so hard knowing that the only thing to settle her is boobie milk and trying to feed around various medications can be very difficult.

I never thought I would breastfeed, but a friend that was also my midwife was very supportive and has been my guide to everything breastfeeding along the way.

This has been the hardest, most stressful thing we have ever been through, as a couple and a family, but breastfeeding has been our constant.

We are now 6 months in and strong believers that boobie milk is magic! MAGIC MILKY MILK!"
