April’s Story…
@thats_the_tea_mama has shared her experiences of feeding her two daughters and recently reaching the amazing milestone of 1 year breastfeeding her youngest Winnie. All words are her own:
“My first experience with breastfeeding was never the way I wanted the journey to be with my first daughter. I managed a few weeks before thrush turned into a staph infection that would only clear if I stopped. After having to abruptly end breastfeeding Piper, my mood became really low and I felt really cheated.
When I fell pregnant with Winnie, I was determined. I collected colostrum from 36 weeks and actually ended up with almost 70ml saved in the 5 and a bit weeks I was collecting. I felt well prepared and determined. When she was born, we had a few issues with her struggling to latch on the left side but we eventually got there and we were doing well! I ended up having the same infection in my c section scar that required the same antibiotics that gave me thrush. It felt like history repeating itself. I called the doctor with my concerns and they were amazing and completely understood my anxiety and started treatment for thrush straight away, before I even actually had before I even actually had it as a preventative.
A year later, we're still going strong. 3 months was my first goal. I bought my necklace to commemorate that.
I bought the small pendant to put onto a necklace I already had to pair it with my girls initials.
Now we've reached a year, I'll be ready for another commemorative piece ❤️”
