Why Breastmilk Jewellery?

One of the main questions I get asked when I tell people I make breastmilk jewellery is "why?". Sadly, some just don't understand why this jewellery is so important and what it signifies to the wearer.

Breastmilk jewellery holds a special place in many mother's hearts. This unique form of jewellery goes beyond just aesthetics in that it carries personal stories, cherished memories, and deep emotions and connections. It gives them physical form and acts as a lasting reminder of what can be a hugely emotional journey.

A piece of breastmilk jewellery can serve as a physical reminder of the deep connection, love, sacrifice and dedication that a mother has given to her child and so it's significance can be huge.

Breastmilk jewellery serves as a tangible expression of emotion and memory. Unlike traditional jewellery, which can be quite beautiful but generic, breastmilk pieces are made with a piece of the journey they commemorate and celebrate, each entirely unique and individual. It can represent a milestone achieved, a journey which had a difficult start, hurdles overcome or a journey ended. The wearer can choose to disclose that their jewellery is made of breastmilk, or it can be a secret they keep only for them.

To be making such jewellery is an absolute honour and privilege. As a breastfeeding mother myself who has experienced the highs and lows, the struggles, the challenges, the emotion and also a journey coming to an end, I absolutely understand and never underestimate the significance of breastmilk jewellery.
